Aida Solovăstru comparte con Juke Mx sus pinturas dedicadas al footwork de Chicago

How are you?
My pleasure. I’m fine thanks, getting ready to go on holiday with my better half. At the moment I’m still dre, still going to work, painting, listening to music, reading the Dune series and having fun in my spare time.

El gusto es mío. Estoy bien, gracias, por prepararme para irme de vacaciones con mi mejor compañía. En este momento todavía sigo trabajando, pintando, escuchando música, leyendo la serie Dune y divirtiéndome en mi tiempo libre.

To start and put our readers in context, tell us about your origins, you were born in Câmpina, Romania, but live in Bucharest, now?
I’ve been living in Bucharest for about seven years now, the capital city of Romania, having moved here from Campina to pursue academical studies, I fell in love with the energy here and we decided to move in together.

Para comenzar y poner a nuestros lectores en contexto, cuéntanos sobre tus orígenes, naciste en Câmpina, Rumania, pero ¿vives ahora en Bucarest?
He estado viviendo en Bucarest por cerca de siete años, la capital de Rumania, habiéndose mudado aquí desde Campina para realizar estudios académicos, me enamoré de la energía de aquí y decidimos mudarnos juntos.

It’s great to know your work, tell us when did you start painting? What were your beginnings in the world of painting?
I started painting in 2013. when I was a kid I didn’t really have a passion for it, it just kind of happened. When I turned 21 I bought some paint and I have been painting ever since(learning step by step to combine materials I wasn’t familiar with)

Es genial conocer tu trabajo, cuéntanos ¿cuándo comenzaste a pintar? ¿Cuáles fueron tus inicios en el mundo de la pintura?
Comencé a pintar en 2013. Cuando era niña realmente no tenía pasión por esto, simplemente sucedió. Cuando cumplí 21 años compré un poco de pintura y he estado pintando desde entonces (aprendiendo paso a paso para combinar materiales con los que no estaba familiarizada)

Did you studied Economics during these days and paint? Was it something you did simultaneously?
Yeah. I enjoyed economics and it helped me develop my thinking and view of the world around us, yet at the same time painting was my way to relax and get away from the stress.

¿Estudiaste economía durante estos días y pintaste? ¿Fue algo que hiciste simultáneamente?
Sí. Disfruté Economía y esto me ayudó a desarrollar mi pensamiento y visión del mundo que nos rodea, pero al mismo tiempo pintar era mi manera de relajarme y alejarme del estrés.

You are very passionate about Chicago footwork, do you remember what was your first contact with this culture?
I believe I listened to Chicago footwork in 2013-2014 for the first time. I can’t really recall. Back then, I knew only two people that listened to it in Romania (my boyfriend and his best friend 925 that had done some collab with Dj Acey.)
I listened to some tracks, then some more tracks (LOL) and kept finding songs and remixes that blew me away and that kept ringing in my head. Without knowing it, it became one of my favourite styles of music, because of the synths and all round intricate sounds that I hadn’t heard before, oh and because of the energy they emit.

Eres una apasionada del Chicago footwork, ¿recuerdas cuál fue tu primer contacto con esta cultura?
Creo que escuché Chicago footwork en 2013-2014 por primera vez. Realmente no puedo recordar. En ese entonces, solo conocía a dos personas que lo escuchaban en Rumania (Mi novio y su mejor amigo 925 que habían colaborado con Dj Acey).
Escuché algunas pistas, luego algunas pistas más (risas) y seguí encontrando canciones y remixes que me impresionaron y que seguían sonando en mi cabeza. Sin saberlo, se convirtió en uno de mis estilos favoritos de música, debido a los sintetizadores y todos los sonidos intrincados que no había escuchado antes, y por la energía que emiten.

A great friend of mine producer and deejay, Juke Dealer told me about your work, the paintings you have done and the way you have portrayed the people of the Chicago footwork are amazing. Tell us when you started with this idea of painting paintings inspired by the Teklife world?
Thank you and thank you. I started painting them in October 2017. I loved the music so much that I felt I could paint it.

Un gran amigo mío, productor y deejay, Juke Dealer me contó sobre tu trabajo, las pinturas que has hecho y la forma en que has representado a la gente del trabajo de Chicago es increíble. Cuéntanos cuándo empezaste con esta idea de pintar pinturas inspiradas en el mundo Teklife.

We always remember DJ Rashad with great respect and affection, your paintings pay homage and immortalize their essence. Tell us a little about how you feel with this way of paying tribute to their legacy.
I find it very sad when talented people leave the world too soon(REST IN POWER, Return if possible, RIP Dj Rashad).
On the upside, It’s heart warming to see the impact they leave behind, a legacy and a sound that noone can take away.
Dj Rashad will keep bringing joy to people for years to come with his music. I still listen to his tracks everyday, on my way to work or while painting. His way of finding the right groove for each track and balancing it out was perfect.
I am thinking about doing a painting for each and every artist that I like from the footwork scene as a form of gratitude. Besides Dj Rashad I appreciate all the Djs and producers,even MR Watchnwitness their cameraman,that keep bringing new stuff to the table, turn-table that is.

Siempre recordamos a DJ Rashad con gran respeto y afecto, tus pinturas rinden homenaje e inmortalizan su esencia. Cuéntanos un poco acerca de cómo te sientes con esta forma de rendir homenaje a su legado.
Me parece muy triste que gente con talento abandone el mundo demasiado pronto (REST IN POWER, Regresa si es posible, RIP Dj Rashad).
Por el lado positivo, es reconfortante ver el impacto que dejan atrás, un legado y un sonido que nadie puede quitar.
Dj Rashad seguirá trayendo alegría a las personas durante los próximos años con su música. Todavía escucho sus canciones todos los días, en mi camino al trabajo o mientras pinto. Su forma de encontrar el ritmo adecuado para cada pista y equilibrarlo fue perfecta.
Estoy pensando en hacer una pintura para todos y cada uno de los artistas que me gustan de la escena del footwork como una forma de gratitud. Además de Dj Rashad, aprecio a todos los Djs y productores, incluso a MR WatchnWitness, su camarógrafo, que siguen trayendo cosas nuevas a la mesa, eso es todo.

Have you exhibited these paintings in the form of a gallery?
No. I had not thought of making them for that purpose. I made them for myself and the culture. I want to send them to the Djs. I know they would feel great knowing that footwork reached a global status, after Japan footwork culture, the Russian and Polish footwork, Mexico footwork, Spain’s Iberian Juke even Romania listens to it for some time now. Although in Romania the footwork scene is still a mistery to a lot of people, my boyfriend has mixed only footwork at some D’n’B underground festivals and people really loved the vibe and danced like crazy, the same Bpm as dnb but diff vibe made people question the music a bit till the bass-line dropped and then they totally embraced it and were asking for more.

¿Has expuesto estas pinturas en forma de galería?
No. No había pensado en hacerlos para ese propósito. Los hice para mi y para la cultura. Quiero enviarlos a los Djs. Sé que se sentirían muy bien sabiendo que el footwork alcanzó un estatus global, después de la cultura footwork de Japón, el footwork de Rusia y Polonia, el footwork de México, el Iberian Juke de España y hasta Rumania lo escucha desde hace algún tiempo. Aunque en Rumania, la escena del footwork sigue siendo un misterio para mucha gente, mi novio ha mezclado el footwork en algunos festivales clandestinos de D’n’B y la gente realmente amó la vibra y bailaba como loca, el mismo bpm hizo que la gente cuestionara un poco la música hasta que la línea de bajo se dejara caer y luego la abrazaron totalmente y pedían más.
